The concept of piggybacking content is simple but powerful. This is about breaking down a content piece that already ranks for certain keywords into smaller, more focused chunks. These’splinters can be optimized for specific keywords, increasing their chances of ranking higher on search engines.
How to Piggyback your Content
Step 1: Identify your keywords
The first step is to identify which keywords are currently ranked for your website. This can be done using SEMrush. Click on organic research and then click positions. Select positions 51 to 100. These are your ‘clustering opportunities”–keywords that your page is ranking for but could potentially rank higher with a more focused approach.
Step 2: Create dedicated pages
After you have identified clustering opportunities, create pages dedicated to each keyword. Create a dedicated page if, for example, your website is ranked “Best SEO Tool” with a review of various SEO tools. This page is more relevant, and will therefore have a higher chance of ranking.
Step 3: Internal Link
Don’t forget linking these pages after creating your piggybacking content. Internal linking is an important part of SEO. It helps improve navigation, increases pageviews and boosts your page’s rank.
It’s not about creating new content. Making your content more effective is what piggybacking is all about. Recognizing the value of your existing content and utilizing it to its maximum potential is key. Take a good look at your existing content. You could be sitting on an SEO goldmine.

- Natural Language Processing is the acronym for NLP. Export NLP keywords that relate to your topic.
- Copy reviews. Go to Amazon, and copy one review from each of the five-star ratings, four-star ratings, three-star ratings, two-star ranking, and one-star ranking. You will get a variety of opinions on the product.
- Reddit search: Search Google for “reddit.com”, plus your keyword. Copy at least three opinions.
- Copy the YouTube transcript of a video that you find relevant. ChatGPT will give you an overview of the video.
- Create prompts. Now you need to create prompts for ChatGPT. First, you can look at other people’s stories. You can use this template:

ChatGPT is likely to generate 500-700 words. All you have to do now is to continue the conversation to increase both the word count as well as the depth.

After you have upgraded your content, return to ChatGPT to ask for a re-grading. You’ve done well if the score is higher. Repeat the process for all of your content.
